7 Upcoming Marvel Films/Shows
With Marvel’s phase three wrapped up with Spider-Man Far From Home, 2020 was supposed to be the year to signal the start of phase of the MCU. However due to the covid situation, it got pushed back to this year. Starting with Wandavision in February, we’ve had the announcements and release of numerous shows for the next couple of years. We have already got Loki and the recently released Black widow as the part of phase 4. WandaVision picks off from Avengers Endgame which saw all the characters that were snapped off in Infinity War getting brought back thanks to Tony Stark and the Avengers. It follows Wanda Maximoff, and her struggles to come to terms with the loss of her lover. The series ends by possibly tying up Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We then got the Loki series in June that was about the Loki from the battle of New York in Avengers escaping with the Tesseract, when Tony Stark and Steve Rogers embark in the Time Heist.
Most recently, we had the Black Widow movie released last week. Set between the events of Civil War and that of Infinity War, the movie sees Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confront the darker parts of her ledger and battle a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past. Although Black Widow technically does not play into the story line followed by the Phase four movies, it was one of the many projects that were announced as a part of it. Marvel announced close to 23 projects as part of their phase four, and here we take a look at the upcoming projects that are set to release in the coming years.
-
SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS
Set to release on September 3rd this year, the movie follows Shang-Chi, the son of the legendary literary villain Fu Manchu. Learning the truth about his dad’s business, he uses his martial arts prowess against his father. The Ten Rings is a crime league present across the world, but owing allegiance to no country in particular. If you noticed properly, the Ten Rings were actually introduced briefly in Iron Man, but were never really fleshed out properly.
- ETERNALS
Based on characters as imagined by Jack Kirby, the Eternals are a race of fantastically powerful proto-humans engineered by the Celestials (mentioned in Guardians of the Galaxy). The movie is about an Eternal named Sersi who has the powers of flight, strength, immortality, and molecular manipulation. The movie is set to release on November 5th, 2021.
- SPIDER-MAN NO WAY HOME
Picking up from where Far From Home ended, Spider-Man No Way Home will follow Peter Parker and his attempt to clear his name when it was revealed that he is actually Spider-Man. How he does it, will be seen. The movie has generated considerable buzz regarding this, with many stating that the multiverse will have a role to play, (tying up Dr. Strange into it). And with the reports of many old Spider-Man actors like Alfred Molina (Dr. Octopus), Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange) reprising their respective roles; it only adds fuel to the fire regarding the entire Multiverse theory. The film is slated to hit theatres on December 17 of this year.
- . WHAT IF…? (SERIES)
The What If series will explore the untold stories in which the characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe experience different fates and storylines than they normally faced. Some of the most noticeable ones being Peggy Carter taking on the mantle of Captain America, and T’Challa becoming Star-Lord. DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS
The film has generated a lot of gossip, with Elizabeth Olsen reprising her role as Scarlet Witch, and it being supposed to be Marvel’s first venture in the horror movie genre. The movie will directly pick up after the events of WandaVision, Loki, and Spider-Man No Way Home. The movie is set to release on March 25th, 2022.
- THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER
Following the events of Avengers Endgame, Love and Thunder will see Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy, and also Natalie Portman returning as Female Thor.
